This report is the second in Save the Children's Every Last Child series. The report explores three key barriers that hold girls back: child marriage; poor access to quality services – including health and education; and girls’ lack of voice in private and public spheres.

It also highlights countries where girls’ rights are most at risk through their Girls’ Opportunity Index.

Stressing that one girl under 15 is married every seven seconds, the report highlights a number of programmes that Save the Children is implementing on child marriage and related issues in different countries.

It calls on governments and donors to invest in girls’ education and life chances, to help bring an end to child marriage and gender discrimination.
