Plan International undertook extensive research on the prevalence of child, early and forced marriage (CEFM) in Bangladesh, Cambodia, China, India, Indonesia, Laos, Myanmar, Nepal, Pakistan, the Philippines, Sri Lanka, Thailand, Timor-Leste and Vietnam in late 2017. This technical report provides comprehensive details of CEFM in Asia and further consolidates evidence that governments, universities, civil society organisations, and Plan International have generated over the past ten to fifteen years in the 14 countries that make up Plan International’s Asia region. It analyses recent evidence on the prevalence, causes, trends, drivers and impact of CEFM and outlines actions that must be taken to address CEFM in Asia and the strong commitment needed from stakeholders at multiple levels.
